“A female is a female by virtue of certain lack of qualities”
The very word ‘woman’ exemplifies a virtue that was long subdued. Besides being a housewife a woman now has other activities to accomplish. No more she is a manmade object but an independent and responsible human being to carry out many roles at a time. The rights that were once denied to women has now found a different colour altogether. She is not a tool anymore but uses tools to earn her livelihood.
Such an instance we provide on this Women’s Day of Mrs. Ruplekha Bannerjee. A housewife turned professionally successful woman. And THF has given her the opportunity to define herself as a woman of power, thus giving every means to celebrate her womanhood. Since 2012 Mrs. Bannerjee of Simurali, an arsenic prone zone of Nadia, West Bengal runs a water treatment plant all by herself. She supplies 20ltrs. of treated water to at least 25 families each day. Her success is our pride and we feel even more accomplished as an NGO to see her managing her enterprise efficiently. She also supplies water to caterers for any occasion, to the business organizations and to family parties as well. Her accumulated income is about Rs. 30,000 per month.
We celebrate Women’s Day with Mrs. Ruplekha Bannerjee’s success and wish all the women a very Happy Women’s Day. And wish to see such successful women in every house. They are no more a mere object but an object of change, a change that will give us a better society.
